11 fave weekend getaway hotels close to the Bay Area

Rounding up some of my favorite Bay Area Staycation Hotels that would make the perfect weekend getaway!

1 ) THE RITZ CARLTON, HALF MOON BAY

Listing the Ritz at Half Moon Bay first cos it is my absolute favorite place for a staycation in the Bay Area! The location is spectacular and really makes you feel like you are like somewhere in Europe. The hotel is perched upon a cliff overlooking the gorgeous shoreline at Half Moon Bay. This is also a greta place for a day trip – try out their amazing weekend brunch and then head over to their beach for an afternoon siesta.

 

2 ) AUBERGE DU SOLEIL, NAPA

Handsdown my no 1 fave resort in Napa is Auberge Du Soleil! Set within the vineyards with sweeping vistas of the best of California wine country, this luxury resort totally makes me feel like I’m in Europe! I also love their Michelin rated restaurant here – try their 5 course brunch here it is to die for!

 

3 ) DREAM INN SANTA CRUZ

Santa Cruz is one of my fave little beach towns in California and I love that its just an hour away. We love staying at The Dream Inn Santa Cruz to make it an overnight trip. It is located right next to the famous boardwalk and is walkable to all the fun attraction. Check out my blog post here.

 

4 ) FARMHOUSE INN SONOMA

Farmhouse Inn is a beautiful countryside inn tucked away in Russian River valley. This lil’ boutique inn has all the charm of a cozy wine country B&B while also offering fantastic 5 star luxury services – including an amazing spa and a Michelin rated restaurant. The Inn has also been consistently voted as one of the Best Hotels in California and Best hotels in the US among many other awards. It is situated conveniently in between Napa and Sonoma and is a great option for a romantic weekend getaway in Norcal. 5 ) HOTEL CARMEL & LA PLAYA CARMEL

Listing these out together as they are sister properties located in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I love staying at Carmel for weekend getaways to Big Sur and the Monterey peninsula. 6 ) CARNEROS RESORT AND SPA, NAPA VALLEY :

Set within the most picturesque wine countryside in Napa Valley, this charming resort was the perfect luxe private retreat and a quintessential Napa experience that we were looking for in our mini getaway. Check out my blog post to Carneros resort here.

 

7 ) Ventana Big Sur

Anush and I had always wanted to stay at the luxurious Alila Ventana Big Sur and this couldn’t have been a more perfect choice for a special occasion – our 10 year wedding anniversary. Bonus points – its dog friendly too! Tucked among the redwood forests in one of the most iconic and dramatic landscapes on earth, the location of Ventana is beyond spectacular! 8 ) Rosewood Sand Hill, Menlo park

We spent a daycation here and it was so fun! Head to Madera for a delicious meal or the Sense Spa for a relaxing massage and facial. Rosewood Sand Hill is such a beautiful escape right in the heart of the Bay Area.

9) The Ritz Carlton, Lake Tahoe

The next 2 hotels are in Tahoe, but I am still adding it cos its just a 4 hour drive from the Bay Area! The Ritz is my favorite hotel in North Lake Tahoe. This luxury resort nestled mid-mountain it provides access to a ski-in ski-out family-friendly destination and endless snow activities if you are an avid ski/snowboarder. 10) Wylder Hotel, Hope Valley

Recently this hotel made it to the Travel and Leisure‘s IT list for the best new hotels in the world! It is such a great destination whether it’s summer, fall or winter and being such a easy drive from the Bay Area you need to add this gem to your list stat. Read more in my blog post here.

 

11) Solage Calistoga, Napa Valley

We recently stayed at Solage and absolutely loved it. Bonus – its pet friendly too! Only one and a half hours from San Francisco by car, Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection, is located in the heart of California Wine Country. Situated on 22-acres surrounded by panoramic mountains and picturesque vineyards, Solage boasts 100 spacious and modern studios.
