Rounding up some of my favorite Bay Area Staycation Hotels that would make the perfect weekend getaway! Also mentioned which ones are pet friendly ( 10 of these are!)

1 ) THE RITZ CARLTON, HALF MOON BAY (pet friendly!)

Listing the Ritz at Half Moon Bay first cos it is my absolute favorite place for a staycation in the Bay Area! The location is spectacular and really makes you feel like you are like somewhere in Europe. The hotel is perched upon a cliff overlooking the gorgeous shoreline at Half Moon Bay. This is also a greta place for a day trip – try out their amazing weekend brunch and then head over to their beach for an afternoon siesta.

 

2 ) AUBERGE DU SOLEIL, NAPA

Handsdown my no 1 fave resort in Napa is Auberge Du Soleil! Set within the vineyards with sweeping vistas of the best of California wine country, this luxury resort totally makes me feel like I’m in Europe! I also love their Michelin rated restaurant here – try their 5 course brunch here it is to die for!

 

3 ) DREAM INN SANTA CRUZ

Santa Cruz is one of my fave little beach towns in California and I love that its just an hour away. We love staying at The Dream Inn Santa Cruz to make it an overnight trip. It is located right next to the famous boardwalk and is walkable to all the fun attraction. Check out my blog post here.

 

4 ) FARMHOUSE INN SONOMA

Farmhouse Inn is a beautiful countryside inn tucked away in Russian River valley. This lil’ boutique inn has all the charm of a cozy wine country B&B while also offering fantastic 5 star luxury services – including an amazing spa and a Michelin rated restaurant. The Inn has also been consistently voted as one of the Best Hotels in California and Best hotels in the US among many other awards. It is situated conveniently in between Napa and Sonoma and is a great option for a romantic weekend getaway in Norcal. We stayed here over my birthday a few years ago and have been dying to go back ever since! Check out my travel guide to Napa here.

 

5 ) HOTEL CARMEL & LA PLAYA CARMEL ( both pet friendly!)

Listing these out together as they are sister properties located in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I love staying at Carmel for weekend getaways to Big Sur and the Monterey peninsula. 6 ) CARNEROS RESORT AND SPA, NAPA VALLEY (pet friendly!)

Set within the most picturesque wine countryside in Napa Valley, this charming resort was the perfect luxe private retreat and a quintessential Napa experience that we were looking for in our mini getaway. Check out my blog post to Carneros resort here.

 

7 ) Ventana Big Sur (pet friendly!)

Anush and I had always wanted to stay at the luxurious Alila Ventana Big Sur and this couldn’t have been a more perfect choice for a special occasion – our 10 year wedding anniversary. Bonus points – its dog friendly too! Tucked among the redwood forests in one of the most iconic and dramatic landscapes on earth, the location of Ventana is beyond spectacular! It is luxurious, rustic, tranquil and romantic offering an unmatched blend of privacy, serenity and room to explore. Read more in my blog post here.

8 ) Rosewood Sand Hill, Menlo park (pet friendly!)

We spent a daycation here and it was so fun! Head to Madera for a delicious meal or the Sense Spa for a relaxing massage and facial. Rosewood Sand Hill is such a beautiful escape right in the heart of the Bay Area.

9) The Ritz Carlton, Lake Tahoe (pet friendly!)

The next 2 hotels are in Tahoe, but I am still adding it cos its just a 4 hour drive from the Bay Area! The Ritz is my favorite hotel in North Lake Tahoe. This luxury resort nestled mid-mountain it provides access to a ski-in ski-out family-friendly destination and endless snow activities if you are an avid ski/snowboarder. 10)  Desolation Hotel Hope Valley (pet friendly!) 

Desolation Hotel Hope Valley is such a great destination whether it’s summer, fall or winter and being such an easy drive from the Bay Area you need to add this gem to your list stat. Read more in my blog post here. We are definitely planning to revisit this gorgeous property sometime.

 

11) Desolation Hotel, South Lake Tahoe  (pet friendly!)

We stayed at Desolation Hotel, South Lake Tahoe for a summer weekend and it was absolutely amazing! This is Lake Tahoe’s new premier micro resort and felt like an oasis of serenity in the midst of a bustling town. The accommodation styles range from studios to suites or townhouses all equipped with luxe amenities. The property had the perfect vibe of a blend of outdoor adventure meets eco luxury. The best part – it is also pet friendly with no weight limit on dogs, which made us even more excited cos we could bring Lola along!

 

12) Solage Calistoga, Napa Valley (pet friendly!)

We recently stayed at Solage and absolutely loved it. Bonus – its pet friendly too! Only one and a half hours from San Francisco by car, Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection, is located in the heart of California Wine Country. Situated on 22-acres surrounded by panoramic mountains and picturesque vineyards, Solage boasts 100 spacious and modern studios. With a stunning pool, 2 award winning restaurants and an incredible spa and wellness center, this is the perfect escape in Napa.
