If you know me, you know I love the Caribbean ! A ton of Caribbean countries have recently reopened for tourism with travel requirements and we were too tempted to plan a short and quick trip to discover a new island destination. One such island country that recently reopened for tourism is Turks and Caicos!
Here is a quick rundown of the Travel requirements to TCI that you would need if you plan a trip in the future :
1 ) A negative COVID-19 PCR test result. The test must be taken within 5 days prior to travel to the TCI.
2 ) Mandatory travel Insurance which covers COVID-19 medical costs and full hospitalization, doctors’ visits, prescriptions and air ambulance.
3 ) You would need to upload your negative results , insurance and a completed online health screening questionnaire on the “TCI Assured” website no less than 24 hours before departure. After you submit this you will be issued a Travel Authorization form without which you cannot board the flight. More details on their tourism website.
During our time in Turks and Caicos, we stayed at the beautiful Ocean Club Resorts in the main island of Providenciales. Ocean Club resorts has a very helpful Pre Travel Concierge that you can email and have them check all your travel documents before travel so that you know that you are all set. I found this super helpful when I had questions about testing, insurance, etc.
Grace Bay beach – one of the best beaches in the world!
The two sister properties – Ocean Club East and Ocean Club West are both located right along the world-renowned Grace Bay Beach, which is repeatedly voted as one of the best beaches in the world! Both these resorts provide the ideal location to activities and direct beach access, without going overbudget. There is also a free shuttle between the two resorts for all guests. Both are conveniently located close to local shopping, restaurants, etc.
Picture perfect postcards under the signature pink umbrellas at Ocean Club West
Grace Bay Beach is nothing short of a picture perfect postcard, especially with these dreamy pink umbrellas and chaises right along the beach! You can choose to simply do nothing, try out some watersports or try a cocktail at the resorts super cute beach bar. In terms of water and sand quality, lack of trash/seaweed, less crowds, privacy and solitude, etc Grace Bay has to be one of my fave beaches in the world! It runs 12 miles long – 12 miles of the best powder-white sand and amazing, crystal-clear waters. It was a tad bit choppy when we were there only cos of an impending tropical storm later in the week, but usually the beach is super calm and very swimmable!
Some of the best waters and best sands I have ever set foot on!
My favorite part about Ocean Club West was the fact that it was an al suite resort! Each suite comes with its own kitchen, washer/dryer and porch area, etc which made me feel like I found my idyllic beach home at such a fantastic location! We loved our beautiful and spacious 2 bedroom suite suite – it had 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a living and dining area, a kitchen and such a charming island style balcony with views of the pool and the beach. This would be so perfect for a family.

Two bedroom suite at Ocean Club West – perfect for families!
The entire Ocean Club West property exudes in Caribbean charm and has lush tropical landscaping. We loved exploring in and around this beautiful property on foot and on bikes. The resort had free bikes to rent for all guests and we loved taking these out to explore all that Grace Bay had to offer.
Lush tropics + Caribbean charm around the property
Stay active – Bikes for rent to explore..
or simply laze around – in these comfy beach view hammocks.
As for activities – Watersports, bike rentals, fitness centre, tennis courts and beachside activities can all be found at the resort and are included in the stay. There is one large freshwater pool at the center of the resort and it felt like a private lush sanctuary. The pool lounge chairs were spaced very thoughtfully so that guests were socially distant and had their own privacy.

There are also 3 restaurants across the 2 resorts. Ocean Club West has one restaurant on property – “Solana” where they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The location is right on the beach and it couldn’t be more perfect! We especially loved the blackened fish and conch fritters for dinner here – so yum! They also have a beach bar located right on the beach.

Ocean Club Resorts has implemented measures consistent with local and WHO guidance to try to reduce the spread of COVID-19 on the premises, including enhanced cleaning protocols. Some of the thoughtful changes we saw which made us feel safe and comfortable throughout our stay:
