I love Tahoe, its probably one of my fave Bay area escapes. The best part is you can go year round and have different experiences here – lake activities in the summer, fall foliage in the fall and snow in the winter! My blogger girlfriend Paulina and I went to Tahoe last winter too and had so much fun, we decided to ought to make it a yearly tradition! So here we are second time in a row and needless to say we had such a blast. Although we are blesses to have mild winters here in the Bay, I do crave snow especially around the holidays and love that we can get to experience that with just a short 4 hour drive to Winter Wonderland – North Lake Tahoe !
We stayed at a cozy cabin in Northstar which you can easily rent via Northstar’s website. I love staying here as aside from the stunning location in the mountains, it is very conveniently located close to the village, the slopes and the town of Truckee.
If you are looking for a travel guide for Tahoe in the winter – check out my post from last year. In this post I am just recapping our fun little girls getaway. On the first day we drove around the mountain to explore. It was soooo amazing to see a lot more snow this time around ! Thanks to the rain we have been having! There is a lot more snow headed there this season so if you are around in the Bay or visiting I urge you to make a weekend trip up there, it is simply stunning this time around.
We also got to visit the adorable town of Truckee this time. It was my first time up to this town and I was simply in love! This adorable little western town in the mountains is so quaint and charming. Its a great place to spend an afternoon window shopping or grabbing a quick meal.
Our most memorable day of the trip is where we got to spend the entire day at the beautiful Ritz Carlton in Lake Tahoe. This luxury resort nestled mid-mountain it provides access to a ski-in ski-out family-friendly destination and endless snow activities if you are an avid ski/snowboarder.
And if you are like me but want to enjoy the snow without the adrenaline inducing activities then The Ritz really knows how to offer a lively après ski experience featuring the resort’s signature experience, Marshmology and a champagne bar every evening at the fire pit. Their homemade marshmallows are to die for. I tried the Cranberry flavor and it was super delicious!
We also had a meal at the beautiful Manzanita restaurant. We literally ordered everything on the menu haha, cos we were starving and it did not disappoint. Every item was so yummy – my fave was the fish tacos and the pressed beet juice.
If you are staying here definitely check out their award winning slope side spa. I tried the signature massage and Paulina got the signature facial and they were both fabulous! Aside from the incredible service the location of the spa is unbeatable – I mean imagine getting a massage while viewing some of the best slopes in the country! After our appointments we took a dip in the picturesque outdoor heated spa pool. Can you image how much more stunning this would look with all the trees covered in snow?!
We had such a fun getaway and cant wait to be back next year! Happy holidays! xo
Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
