During our recent trip to Mallorca, we split our stay across two different parts of the island. For the second part of our stay we stayed at the beautiful Castell Son Claret. This property is located in the outskirts Es Capdella at the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains in the Mallorcan countryside in one of the island’s biggest private estates. It is part of the Leading Hotels of the World and was also recently voted as one of Europe’s best hotels .
This used to be a 19th century castle that was converted to a luxury hotel but still manages to retain all the historic details and charm. Overall there are 43 rooms and suites across the main historic manor house and the 2 new houses.
We stayed at one of their amazing pool suites. The luxurious suite had a spacious living area, bedroom and bathroom. I loved the indoor outdoor living feature as the suite opened out to our own private little backyard which had a patio, plunge pool, umbrella with sun loungers and a patio dining area. Spending our mornings or afternoons in our patio was such a pleasure!
In and around the Pool Suite
Castell San Claret has 2 restaurants on property – a fining dining gourmet restaurant called Sa Clastra as well as a Mediterranean restaurant called Olivera. We loved our daily breakfasts at Olivera – I especially loved that they had so many local delicacies on the menu such as ensaimada, spanish omelettes and coco Mallorquina! We also dined at Olivera for dinner on one of the nights and it was incredible – everything from the food, drinks, presentation and ambiance was excellent!

The gardens around the property are so lush and well manicured. It truly captures the Mediterranean vibe and natural beauty of the island.
Around the stunning property
You can also choose to explore around by bikes that you can rent from the hotel.
The hotel also has a spa on property with many spa treatments to offer as well as a sauna, indoor pool and ice bath that is available to all guests. They also have a fitness room on property which was open 24×7 so we were able to get in a few quick workouts.
While we absolutely loved our private pool in our suite, we also loved the main pool at Castell Son Claret. The setting is just spectacular with the backdrop of the mountains and the countryside all around, it felt so serene here. There is also a pool bar here which is perfect for drinks and light eats while you enjoy some pool time or lounging in the sun.
