Being a fan of the Caribbean I always look for more islands to visit there, and St Lucia has been on the top of that list for the longest time. Sugar Beach Viceroy is located in the best location in St Lucia, tucked away in the valley between the iconic Pitons which are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This resort handsdown has to be one of the most beautiful properties we have been too – it is literally picture perfect. Its location is seriously unreal, with epic views of Gros Piton and Petit Piton from all around the property – from the beach, to the pool, to the restaurants and even to the villas.
The resort is set amidst more than 100 acres of tropical rainforest on the island’s scenic Caribbean coast. Embraced by St Lucia’s majestic World Heritage-listed Pitons, the resort’s 96 Luxury Sugar Mill Rooms, Cottages, Villas and Luxury Beachfront Bungalows boast elegant styling, private plunge pool, four poster bed, luxurious Egyptian cotton linens and other amenities including butler service.
We stayed in a Grand Luxury Villa and it was downright gorgeous! Totally private and with the most stunning of views, they capture the resort’s plantation history with high-beamed ceilings and a voile-draped four-poster bed. You can relax indoors in your sitting area or take it outside, where there is a private terrace and plunge pool to enjoy the warm Caribbean sunshine. The view from our patio was beyond magical – an unobstructed view of Petit Piton! We really found it hard to leave the villa everytime, but can you blame us though?! With a view like this, you can choose to spend all the time at your villa too.
In our Grand Luxury Villa
At the pool of a 3 bedroom villa which we got to tour. These views though!
There are two stunning white sand beaches to choose from. The property was recently voted as 1 of the 10 most Instagram worthy hotels in the world ! And it’s hard not to see why. It is the only hotel in St. Lucia that sits between the Pitons. The beach here is literally sandwiched between these two enormous volcanic mountains and can only be accessed by boat or through Sugar Beach itself, giving it one of the most breathtaking hotel views ever.
Main Beach area at Sugar Beach
The main beach is absolutely gorgeous with its white sands, palm lined coast and sparkly calm emerald waters. It has tons of avenues for relaxation and activity whatever may be your preference. Whether you choose to lounge under the palm fringed palapas, go snorkeling or kayaking in the marine rich Pitons Bay, or simply want to bask in the glory of the warm Caribbean water and sunshine, this beach is perfect!
South Pier beach
The second beach at the South Pier is a little more secluded and was my personal favorite! It had this postcard worthy view of Petit Piton that looked like a painting! And also of Gros Piton which is really one of my absolute fave spots in the resort! This beach also has a few palapas, two hammocks and a bar on the pier as well.
Dreamy St Lucian sunsets
A fantastic spot for sundowners like their “mojito sunset” – happy hour on mojitos and sorbet skies? Yes please!
The main pool area is right by the main beach area and has the same stunning views of the Pitons. Whether you are a beach or pool person, they are both at stone’s throw from each other so its super convenient.
The resort grounds are so lush and beautiful, it felt like being in a serene sanctuary. Infact the property is so vast you need shuttles to go around from one spot to another. Or you can choose to walk the hills and enjoy lush views while also getting a mini workout in!
Breakfast spread at The Terrace
They have 5 restaurants on property, 3 of which are in the main building and 2 are on the beach. Breakfast is served in the Terrace restaurant. The spread was amazing with lots of fresh fruit, local delicacies and other classic faves to choose from. For lunch and dinner we preferred both the casual waterfront restaurants – The Bayside and Jalousie Grill. They even have live music in the evenings and a bbq or creole buffet once a week. If you are looking for something more upscale defitely check out The Great Room and Cane Bar. Sugar Beach also has many food plans to choose from – like the all inclusive, breakfast only, etc. If you plan to stay in the resort for the most part I highly recommend doing the all inclusive option.
Among other activities Sugar Beach has a stunning Rainforest Spa with treehouse treatment rooms, a spacious state of the art gym, water activities on the beach, sunset sailing, hiking, private charters and many other activities in and around the property. They also have a concierge that you can book external excursions with. Since we were also there for 3 nights we just wanted to relax on property.
Hey Jyo – hope you are well! great photos and atually hoping for your help. Planning on proposing to my partner and was wondering where about on sugar beach the dock in your first photo is? Also whether or not you think its a good place to propose and your pictures look amazing?
Hi! What a stunning place for a proposal! You cant miss the dock, there are 2 main beaches so this dock – its not on the main beach area but at the other beach on the property. Anyone on property will be able to tell you about it!
