Last week Anush and I took a few days off for a vacay to the Big Island of Hawaii to celebrate our anniversary as well as my birthday. I have been to Hawaii 7 times and had been to all the islands but this was my first time to the Big Island and it is hard not to fall in love with this beautiful diverse island. For our stay we split our time across two locations. Ill be sharing more about the second location and a full travel guide to the island over the next week. In this post I will be recapping our stay for the first part of our trip in a luxe Polynesian style boutique inn called Holualoa Inn.
If you are looking for a Big Island Stay that is idyllic, secluded and romantic – Holualoa Inn is the one for you! It is an adorable plantation style B&B set on a lush 30 acre coffee estate tucked away on the slopes of Mount Hualalai. It is so quaint, charming and really is the perfect island retreat in every way. It is conveniently located just 5 miles away from the Kailua-Kona centre but far enough that you feel like you are in a secluded mountainous island escape.

The entire open-air house is so impeccably decorated with art and decor from around the Pacific for a unique Polynesian vibe. The house has 4 guest rooms and 2 suites. We stayed in the Ginger Room and absolutely loved our tropical abode – which had a comfy spacious bedroom, bathroom and a garden balcony. There are also 2 cottages on property for those wanting a more private style of accommodation.

Fresh tropical fruits from the estate
Delicious breakfast every morning
The house also has a large living area and dining area where fresh breakfast is served daily farm to table style. Our breakfasts were so delicious with fresh fruit and other delicacies made with ingredients right from their gardens. We also had 100% Kona Coffee from their estate to compliment the sumptuous breakfast every morning too. In the afternoon refreshments like tea and yummy baked goods are also offered.

Other amenities include an ocean-view swimming pool, hot-tub, tropical gardens, a rooftop gazebo and a common game + TV room. The million dollar view of the gorgeous Kona coastline from the pool area was beyond spectacular!

We also loved exploring around the lush tropical gardens of the inn – I told Anush that in my mind it fit the bill of a “Secret Garden”. It reminded me so much of my mom’s coffee estate back home in India which I have fond memories visiting when I was growing up.

We had such a memorable and romantic stay at Holualoa Inn; it was the ideal place to celebrate our anniversary and disconnect from reality for a few days. I cannot recommend it enough if you are ever visiting the Big Island, it will truly be an unforgettable experience! Also to add for any future brides out there – if you are looking for an exceptional place for a destination wedding, this place should definitely be on your list to check out!
Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
