On one of the days that we were in Punta Cana, Paulina and I decided to spend the day at Scape Park. This natural themed eco park is located in Cap Cana and is fun place to spend a couple of hours or a full day. They have tons of activities ranging from adventurous adrenaline-pumping activities like horseback riding, ziplining, snorkeling, cave expeditions, cenotes, etc to other to cultural and highly entertaining experiences. Depending on what you are interested in, you can either opt for a full day pass or a pass that grants you admission into the activity/activities you are most interested in.
For this day trip, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism and Scape Park showed Paulina and I, three of their fave water highlights in the park and each one was beyond spectacular! First up we hiked upto Hoyo Azul – the blue hole. If you have limited time, this is the one stop I urge you to not miss when you visit Scape Park! Hoyo Azul is a hidden cenote located at the foot of a 75mt high cliff with the most dazzling turquoise waters I have seen! The water was literally glowing! The cool waters of the cenote was such a refreshing break on a hot day. For the more adventurous, there is a spot for you to jump into the cenote (which is about 40 ft deep). And for those of you who still want to experience it and just paddle around there are 2 other entrances into the cenote, and life vests should you need them too.
Next up, we walked down the Cultural Route, where we saw real life replicas of the homes of the ancient Taino Indians, the Spanish conquistadors, the African slaves and Dominican peasants. At the end of this trail, we went to a secret cenote called Cenote Taino, a breathtaking underground spring that is believed to have been previously used by the ancient Taino Indians that inhabited the island. This spring was recently discovered and we loved being one of the first few to be able to explore it. It was so unreal you guys!
Lastly we cooled off at Saltos Azules, a gorgeous waterfall in the park. While we just enjoyed our time in the water, the park also offers other fun activities at this spot like diving platforms, a hanging zip line, swing zip line, etc.
