I was missing Anush way too much on Valentine’s day , as he was travelling on work; so my girlfriend Paulina and I snuck away for a fun galentines getaway to our fave local beach town Carmel by the Sea. We stayed at the most adorable hotel called La Playa Carmel. The last time I visited Carmel, we stayed at their sister property Hotel Carmel which is just as charming. It is no surprise that this was voted as the Best Hotel on the Monterey Peninsula! The building was once a luxurious mansion built in 1905, and is now a newly restored 75-room historic hotel with an unbeatable location! It is just a few blocks from beautiful Carmel beach and also close to the renowned shops, galleries and restaurants of Carmel.
The hotel property is gorgeous with romantic details in every corner of its beautiful gardens, intimate patios and relaxing swimming pool. We had a fabulous ocean facing room, waking up to that spectacular view as well as falling asleep to the sound of the waves was so rejuvenating!
Our fave part of the stay was definitely the delicious Champagne Breakfast buffet – the spread was incredible! The dining room was so quaint and pretty, I absolutely loved the decor and the gorgeous views we had all around.
All in all – we had such an amazing stay and I can’t wait to go back here for a romantic weekend getaway with Anush in the spring or summer. If you are ever visiting the area, or live locally and are looking for the perfect weekend beach getaway from SF or the Bay area, Carmel by the Sea is undoubtedly the best place you could choose as there are so many things to do from the town to the beach, wineries, national parks, drives like CA 1 along Big Sur or the 17 mile drive. And while you are down here , La Playa Carmel would provide the best romantic escape , I highly recommend it!
A few words about my outfit – I wore this spring ready floral wrap dress from Roe and May while at La Playa Carmel. I was way too excited that the pretty romantic print matched so perfectly with the hotel decor – totally didnt plan for it! The dress is lightweight and has pretty details like ruffles across the chest and hem as well as mini slutter sleeves. I wore it with comfy wedges and my new fave crossbody from Coach to finish the look.
