Cactus Mountain

We recently had a chance to visit Joshua Tree and Palm Springs for a short getaway. This was the first time that Anush and I had been to the desert area here in Cali. While Palm Springs was definitely beautiful, Joshua Tree was seriously something else! It blew our minds and won our hearts in every.single .way! Big open landscapes (think Breaking Bad haha ), beautiful sunsets (some of the best I have ever witnessed in my life), stunning scenery of the nature against the big mountains and incredible starlit night skies make Joshua Tree so so magical and out of this world! Even though it was pretty hot temperature wise, there was always a refreshing wind – not lying but I didn’t sweat at all even in the 90+ temperatures thanks to always being constantly kissed by the warm desert breeze.

We stayed at a gorgeous little Airbnb called Cactus Mountain which is owned by my dear blogger friend Tienlyn from Thoughtful Misfit and her husband Nikko. It is a romantic desert getaway like none other. Whether you want to go spend some solo time to reflect or go with your significant other or friend, Cactus Mountain is so perfect. It is a great mix of modern meets rustic as it has all the modern amenities with a laidback boho desert vibe. Every little detail in the cozy cabin is so tastefully decorated and has Tien’s and Nikko’s signature touch ( which btw means killer style, check them out on IG like right now @thoughtfulmisfit and @nikkovalentino). They also have a beautiful cactus garden right in their patio and a gorgeous outdoor living room + dining area, that overlooks the magnificent Mojave desert. It is approximately 15 minutes from both the North and the West entrances to Joshua Tree National Park and 10 minutes from the breathtaking Indian Cove, which is what the cabin looks directly onto. It is also pretty close to Joshua Tree Downtown. The best part about this place is the million dollar view of the stunning desert right from the window. I must say waking up to this epic view everyday was pretty damn sweet! Tienlyn and Nikko were fantastic hosts and also live close by, should you need any help. I would definitely recommend this place if you are headed to JT anytime. Also check them out on instagram @cactusmountain. We had so much fun sharing our #lifeatcactusmountain! Check out a little video we made from this shoot here.

_DSC0007Another reason I love the desert – it is the best place for wearing boho styles, after the beach ofcourse. It makes me so happy to wear the clothing I feel most comfortable in and embrace my inner bohemian free spirited vibe. And who said bikinis were only for the beach ?! Best way to beat the desert heat in my books is definitely a bikini top + denim shorts combo. Throw on a kimono and boots and you are all set to stay cool, chic and comfy at the same time. I love love this Beach Riot set from Pink Arrows Boutique. The details are so phenomenal – it has a rose gold embroidered halter top with tassel trim detail, with a matching embroidered seamless bottom. I paired it with my fave black booties and denim cutoffs.
