As I must have mentioned several times in my previous posts, I love investing in pieces that can be repurposed for different looks. I picked up this gorgeous embroidered cotton gauze coverup from Calypso St Barth, right in time for our trip to Loreto. The embroidery reminded me of traditional Mexican work and the colors were perfect for the colorful destination. Apart from the intricate threaded work, I love the tassel trimming at the bottom and at the waist ties. I styled this lightweight coverup in two ways from town to resort – once when we visited the beautiful town of Loreto and once while we we were lounging around in the resort. And I have to mention that this look is definitely one of Anush and my favorite look that we have shot – the outfit, both locations and everything was just plain perfection!
The enchanting town of Loreto is about 45 minutes from the Villa Del Palmar, Islands of Loreto resort. This charming little Mexican town was the first Spanish settlement in Baja California Sur and you can see its influence on the beautiful architecture and culture. Loreto is so quaint and pretty , it offers a real glimpse of old Mexico and features a wealth of historical monuments including the 300-year old Mission of our Lady of Loreto, located at the heart of the town. Recently the Mexican tourism board nicknamed Loreto as the Magical Town and rightly so , thanks to its immense beauty. Every nook and corner is so picturesque, I was seriously in color heaven :)! We stopped to get tea with chips and guac in the main square (I know weird combo, but I was really feeling it at that time haha!) while observing the locals enjoy an evening stroll or catch up sesh.
For my town look I wore the coverup over a crochet top and denim skirt. I added some fun pops of color like this Jemma Sands tassel necklace and this adorable Kayu beach bag (which by the way is also a great beach-to-town option!). I love the giant pom poms in this bag; you can also get it in the monogrammed version if you want to have it personalized. I finished off this comfy look with flats and a floppy hat.
The next day I wore the coverup over this super cute crochet bikini from Lisa Maree for a lazy day at the resort. Lisa Maree makes amazing crochet pieces from dresses to swimwear which are great options for spring/summer or vacation outfits. We met the most fun bartender at the beach shack at Villa Del Palmar, who made us delicious margaritas and also let me take over for a bit #bartenderjyointhehouse !
I love crochet swimwear that actually withstands being in the water for awhile. A few hours in the pool, and my suit was still as good as any other regular swimsuit. And nothing like a refreshing coco loco on a hot day right!
