Big Sur Road trip with Lexus

One of our favorite places for a weekend getaway or a day road trip from the SF Bay Area is Big Sur. The drive up to Big Sur along California 1 is absolutely stunning ! This time we were super excited to collaborate with Lexus for our Big Sur road trip. The Lexus IS 350 sport was the perfect ride for cruising down the Pacific Highway. It was a pleasure driving this beauty of a sports sedan, it was the ideal combo between sport and luxe. My favorite part about the car? The sleek interiors of course!

Our first stop while driving down from the Bay Area, was Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. This park is considered the “crown jewel” of the California State Park system, and is a nature lovers paradise. We hiked down to China Cove and savored in the breathtaking views of the ocean and amazing wildlife. We saw so many seals at this beach!

While driving down to Big Sur, if you have a day’s worth of time I would recommend the most important pitstops – Bixby Bridge, Garrapata state park and of course Mcway falls. I also highly encourage you to explore and stop at random corners, you can NEVER get a bad view and you will never know what you might discover! We were incredibly lucky to see so many whales at pretty much every other place we stopped. This is the best season to view the migrating whales from the north that travel to the west coast down south to escape winter and for breeding purposes. My fave restaurants to stop by along the roadtrip are Big Sur Bakery and Nepenthe Restaurant. This time we went to Nepenthe, and the food was superb! You cant quite beat the drop dead gorgeous views from the restaurant!

As for my outfit, I decided to dress up in multiple layers, while keeping both comfort and style in mind. The weather always has a mind of its own down here so being prepared for it – whether its super windy or pleasant is important. My layers were – a tank + a casual chic sweatshirt + a leather jacket + a fur vest. During midday, the weather was amazingly balmy so we spent sometime at a beach that we hiked down to. I love this comfy quilted sweatshirt from Saltwater Luxe. A basic sweatshirt like this is a must-have in your closet, as you will get maximum use of it all year along.  You can style it in numerous ways – like in the winter as I did here, or in the spring over denim shorts, or in the summer as a casual coverup over your swimsuit, the options are endless! I also had my favorite warm Joie beanie and a scarf in tow to save my hair from the evening winds. I finished the look with my Bernardo 1946 rain booties – that served as the perfect hiking boots as well as the best option if it were to rain sometime during the day. Lets just say – I love being super prepped for all sorts of weather!
