Pastel Coat

One fall trend that has me super excited and has my heart fluttering with glee is Pretty pastels for the fall/winter. Since I do tend to gravitate mostly towards feminine styles this comes as no surprise. You may ask, pastels in fall?! Yes, precisely! Im talking about those gorgeous spring palette colors like light pinks, blues and Β mints. Many runway shows for Fall/Winter 2014 showcased a refreshing change of wearing lighter hues for the fall. No doubt deep and rich colors like rust, burgundy, olive green and mustard yellow will always be considered quintessential fall. But lighter hues like icy blues, powder pink, minty green and lovely lilac look clean and crisp ; and would be sure to brighten up those dreary fall/winter days. Pastel colors during cooler days can be worn in the form of a coat or a sweater or even as simple as an accessory like a bag or scarf for a whiff of freshness. They can be easily worn both for the day or night. Pair your pastels with darker hues (like black) or neutrals to give your outfit a fierce contrast.

This gorgeous baby blue coat is from Sheinside. This is a personal favorite pastel color of mine, as it is soft and pretty and a little less girly than baby pink. (although I love baby pink too!). I love wearing pastels like these in heavier fabrics like wool or knits. A dusty blue coat makes such an elegant outerwear option. I teamed mine with leather leggings to give the pale hue an edgy contrast. Baby blue also contrasts fantastically with burgundy, emerald green or even dark wash denim (for a monochromatic effect). As for accessories, I wore leopard t pumps (which I deem as neutrals!), a statement necklace and midi rings. Another trend thats raging hard on the fall fashion scene is metallics and in this look I decided to give it a try by opting for chrome nails.

  1. a. love that you put into words that you find leopard print a neutral. In fact, i have been able to best describe why i find my tortoise shell frame transitional glasses as an instinctual Go-To for any outfit really… it’s because I TOO THINK them to be a….a neutral. love.

    b. i can never wear pastels, so this is inspiring. dark mustard yellow (light brown) and baby blue is a fave of mine. just fave.
